Reducing Hallucinations and Enhancing Workflows with AI
Large Language Models (LLMs) have made it economically feasible to perform tasks like converting natural language into code or workflows, increasing worker productivity. However, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) may produce false outputs, known as hallucinations, limiting its real-world applicability.
To address this, a team of researchers from ServiceNow has developed a system using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve the quality of structured outputs produced by GenAI systems. By integrating RAG, the team significantly reduced hallucinations and enhanced the dependability and usefulness of the workflows produced.
The team also demonstrated that using a smaller, well-trained retriever in conjunction with the LLM, made possible by RAG, reduces resource needs and improves deployment efficiency of workflow generation LLM-based systems.
This approach represents a significant advancement in resolving GenAI’s hallucination constraint, providing a reliable and effective method for creating workflows from natural language requirements. It opens the door for wider use of GenAI systems in enterprise settings.
